Four people in the industry, all speaking anonymously, told GamesBeat that Rockstar plans to release the PC version of GTA 6 "within the first three months of 2027." The report, by Alexander Lee, ran on October 13, 2026. Rockstar was contacted and did not respond before publication. So this is a rumor, and everything below is treated as one.

What is official and what isn't

Officially, GTA 6 is announced only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, launching on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has never announced a PC version, a window, or a price for one. There is no official date for the online mode either.

What GamesBeat adds is a timetable: PC inside the first quarter of 2027, somewhere between January and March, so one to four months after the console. The report itself stresses that a "plan" is not a locked date and that the window could move.

Why this would be a break from the pattern

Rockstar has usually left PC for much later. The numbers from the sources we read:

GameConsolePCGap
GTA VSeptember 2013 (PS3/Xbox 360)April 2015about 19 months
Red Dead Redemption 2October 2018November 2019about 13 months
GTA 6 (rumor)November 19, 2026Q1 20271 to 4 months

That is why GTABoom, in a piece about a different rumor, estimates PC between November 2027 and May 2028 — its math starts from those 13 to 19 months and from console exclusivity deals. German outlet Netzwelt, for its part, tried reading Take-Two's fiscal calendar and floated the chance of PC landing in the first quarter of 2027, while admitting it could just as well slip to the next fiscal year, starting in April 2027. In other words, press estimates range from a few months to over a year, and GamesBeat arrives with sources saying "early."

Not the first rumor of this kind

In April 2026, an X account called DetectiveSeeds said three former Rockstar employees told it the studio was targeting February 2027 for PC, adding that it wasn't final. According to Gfinity, which picked the story up, the account reached out to 90 people and only three answered. The reasoning was financial: shipping before March 31, 2027 would put PC revenue in the same fiscal year as the console launch.

The two stories are independent and point to the same window — which doesn't make either of them true. Two anonymous sources lining up is a signal, not a confirmation. In our reading, the most interesting piece is the fit with Take-Two's fiscal year, which ends in March; that the idea was already floating in April without being shot down proves nothing, it just shows the thesis has been circulating for months.

What Take-Two has already said

On the May earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about PC. According to Netzwelt, he answered — our loose translation from the German — that all of the company's games eventually come to all platforms, that PC is a very important and growing platform, and that for now GTA 6 is confirmed only for consoles. Netzwelt calls that a non-denial. Zelnick gave no date.

The same article says president Karl Slatoff listed six remaining releases for fiscal 2027, among them an unnamed "platform extension." Netzwelt speculates it could be the PC version of GTA 6; that is the outlet's reading, not an announcement. GTABoom reads the same table differently: in it, GTA 6 appears only on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Why GamesBeat thinks it makes sense

The original piece offers three reasons, all the author's argument rather than Rockstar statements:

  • Budget. It cites a production cost above $2 billion, a rumored figure that has not been confirmed. With that much at stake, the argument goes, there is an incentive to widen the audience quickly.
  • Roleplay servers and user-generated content. Rockstar bought Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM, the foundation of GTA V's PC roleplay servers, in 2023. GamesBeat sees PC as a necessary step for that kind of community to exist in GTA 6.
  • Online in 2027. Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg at Tokyo Game Show that GTA 6 online would arrive "next year"; Rockstar hasn't confirmed it. We covered that in Twitch CEO talks GTA 6 multiplayer in 2027.

What about players in Brazil?

If the window holds, the practical difference is big: instead of waiting over a year, PC players would wait months. But none of this affects anyone playing on console in November, and there is no PC pre-order, no PC price and no minimum requirements published. Anyone thinking of building or upgrading a computer specifically for GTA 6 has no official information to base a purchase on today. We gathered what is known so far in GTA 6 may not reach PC before 2027 or 2028.

What the sources we read don't say

  • Who the four sources are or what roles they hold. GamesBeat says only that they are "from the industry."
  • Whether PC would ship together with online or separately.
  • Whether the game would get timed store exclusivity (Steam, Epic, Rockstar's own launcher).
  • What would happen to the plan if the console launch slipped again — the game has already been delayed twice, from 2025 to May 2026 and then to November 19, 2026.

Rockstar tends to announce on its own terms, and most often on Thursdays. Until then, the safe position is the usual one: PC is expected, the date doesn't exist.
