The exact size of the Leonida map, GTA 6's setting, remains officially unconfirmed by Rockstar — but fan estimates based on trailers and leaks point to a world considerably larger than GTA V's, one of the biggest the company has ever built to date.

What's an estimate, not a fact

Different community calculation methods have reached quite different numbers: measurements based on images leaked on Reddit suggested something around 83 km² of explorable terrain, while other analyses based on comparing official trailer coordinates project Leonida at between 150 and 200 km². That huge variation between estimates is, by itself, proof that none of these numbers is official — Rockstar has never published a real map measurement, and anyone claiming an exact figure in km² or square miles is speculating.

Why the expectation of a bigger map exists

Rockstar has already officially confirmed 6 distinct regions within the fictional state of Leonida — Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park — all navigable with no loading screens between them. That number of different biomes (from Vice City's dense urban center to Mount Kalaga's forests and canyons) alone suggests a more varied and likely larger world than GTA V's, which was concentrated mostly in Los Santos and a surrounding rural area.

When this will actually be confirmed

Rockstar is only expected to reveal (or allow precise measurement of) the map's real size at launch, set for November 19, 2026. Until then, any size comparison to GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2 you find out there should be treated as a community estimate, subject to change (larger or smaller) once the game is in players' hands.

What to do with this information

If you're trying to plan ahead (for example, deciding how much time to set aside for exploring the game), it's safe to assume Leonida will be equal to or larger than any previous Rockstar map — but avoid repeating a specific km² figure as if it were a confirmed fact.
