It has been almost three years since a plane towing a banner drifted over the beach in the opening seconds of GTA 6's first trailer: "Nine1Nine — Why Sixty Nine When You Can Nine 1 Nine". It was a dig at the aerial ads that crawl over South Beach every weekend. Now the joke has an address. On Friday, November 6, E11EVEN, one of Miami's best-known nightclubs, will dress up as NINE1NINE for a night, with rapper Flo Rida headlining.

The ticket page is not subtle about it: "Vice City 🌴 Welcome Home!", plus a promise of the "IRL grand opening" of "Vice City's Sexiest Nightclub" in celebration of "GTA6". On E11EVEN's own site, a "NINE1NINE VICE CITY GRAND OPENING" banner links straight to the Flo Rida event.

Rockstar isn't on the guest list

This is the part that matters most if you are reading from afar: it is not an official event. GTA BOOM, which reported the party on October 30, says neither Rockstar nor Take-Two is involved — the club is riding the association on its own. The pages we opened (E11EVEN's site and the ticketing platform) carry no Rockstar logo, no mention of the publisher and no sign of a license.

The bit goes back a while. In December 2023, a day after the trailer dropped, E11EVEN flew its own reply over the beach: "When Nine 1 Nine = E11even." Marketing director Eddie Franco said at the time that he found out through a text ("New GTA trailer dropped, and look what's on it") and had the banner company on the phone right away. He also said he didn't know whether the in-game NINE1NINE was meant to be E11EVEN — and, in the sources we read, Rockstar has never said so. The link comes from fans and from the club itself.

What we know about the night of November 6

  • Where: E11EVEN Miami, 29 NE 11th Street, downtown Miami.
  • Who: Flo Rida.
  • Age: 21+, with photo ID.
  • Tickets: GTA BOOM puts them in the low-to-mid $40s, with VIP tables sold separately. The sales page we opened didn't show prices, so treat that figure as the press's estimate.
  • Time: not announced. The club is open 24 hours, and the page warns that tickets only guarantee entry before 1am; later arrivals pay the difference up to the door price.
  • Dress code: upscale, per GTA BOOM, and tickets are non-transferable.

Meanwhile, the county goes pink and blue

The E11EVEN party is just the loudest layer of something bigger. On the evening of October 28, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced nearly $4 million in promotional agreements with Rockstar, according to the Miami Herald (Douglas Hanks, republished on Yahoo). GTA BOOM pins it at $3.9 million and says Rockstar covers installation, maintenance and removal.

What's in it, per the Herald:

  • a blue-and-pink light installation in the Central Garden courtyard outside Terminal E at Miami International Airport;
  • PortMiami's cranes lit in the game's colors;
  • utility boxes next to county traffic lights wrapped in pink and blue;
  • the "Welcome to Vice City" sign atop the Kaseya Center, a $975,000 deal approved earlier.

GTA BOOM adds ads on the Metromover, Metrobus and Metrorail through media partners, and counts the arena sign inside the $3.9 million; the Herald doesn't mention transit ads. Our read is that it's a matter of framing: the Herald describes what the county announced, while GTA BOOM folds in a separate media buy.

The package is far smaller than the first pitch, which floated rebranding the airport and wrapping the entire transit map. It also came with a fight: Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz and several commissioners objected to tying county government to a violent video game — a dispute we covered in the October 20 commission vote and in who approved what in Miami's campaign. In the press release, the mayor framed it as a way to "make sure Miami-Dade benefits from that attention."

Miami's countdown

Put together with what we've already reported, the city will reach launch day almost fully themed — partly by Rockstar's design, partly by businesses hitching a ride:

DateWhatOfficial Rockstar?
Oct 28County announces the nearly $4M packageYes (deal with Rockstar)
Nov 6E11EVEN becomes NINE1NINE, with Flo RidaNo
Nov 18Miami Heat's Vice City nightYes (team partnership)
Nov 19GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S—

That's on top of what has been on the streets for weeks, like Burger Shot and Cluckin' Bell at the Heat's arena and the Wynwood Walls activation.

None of it changes the game itself — it's marketing and tourism. But it's a decent yardstick for the hype: a club that hasn't seen a cent from Rockstar decided an entire night was worth building around a plane banner that's on screen for a few seconds in a 2023 trailer.
