If you live in Miami-Dade and bring proof of address, you get into Wynwood Walls for free through 2028, and Rockstar is picking up the tab. The street art museum announced the partnership itself on Tuesday, October 13, and it has three parts: free admission for residents, ten new murals made from the art that appears in GTA 6, and a merchandise line, The Art of Vice City, now on pre-sale.
Free entry, with rules
The museum's website already carries the banner "Free for Locals, presented by Rockstar Games". The page only links out to a county subpage and doesn't spell out the terms, so the details come from two outlets that covered the announcement. VGTimes reports that residents need an ID showing a local address and can set up a digital membership on the project page. RockstarINTEL, which reproduces the museum's statement, says the free access runs "through 2028" and covers rotating murals and sculptures, exhibitions at the Goldman Global Arts Gallery, hands-on spray painting, and artists working on site through an artist-in-residence program that hasn't started yet.
In the sources we read, we found neither the regular ticket price nor whether visitors from outside the county pay something different after 2028. Anyone who doesn't live in Miami-Dade is not part of this promotion.
"Stockyard": the neighborhood becomes a level
The most curious detail is in the statement reproduced by RockstarINTEL: according to the museum, GTA 6 will include an area called "Stockyard", based on Wynwood, and more than a dozen artists have original work inside the game, "authentically representing the city, culture, and identity the game pays homage to". That is the museum's claim. In the official Rockstar pages we checked, we found no mention of "Stockyard", and the company hasn't commented. We treat it as information from a partner, not yet confirmed by the developer.
If true, it fits what we already knew about the map: Leonida has regions inspired by real places in Florida, and the team spent months on field research in the state (see the team's research trip and the size of the map). Street art inside a game set in Miami would make sense, but that is our reading.
The ten murals
To mark the partnership, the museum is unveiling 10 new murals across Wynwood and inside the museum, based on the original pieces the artists made for the game. The names released:
- Askew One
- DENIAL
- FAILE
- Gons and Audet
- Lady AIKO
- Queen Andrea
- Ron English
- Tristan Eaton
- ATOMIK and Tatiana Suarez, both from Miami
Art of Vice City: the collection
The "Art of Vice City" collection is on pre-sale and, according to VGTimes, sold only through Wynwood Walls itself. It includes T-shirts, hoodies, water bottles, notebooks and other items carrying the participating artists' work. Items mentioned:
- Leonida T-shirt, by Tristan Eaton
- "We Love Vice City" beach towel, by Queen Andrea
- "Eye Got You" hoodie, by AHOL
- "Hit the Road" laptop sleeve, by D*Face
- "Vice City Paradise" cap, by FAILE
Prices appear only for the Tristan Eaton line: Leonida T-shirt at $49.95, pouch set at $28.95, 750 mL water bottle at $28.95, mouse pad at $9.95, sketchbook at $27.95 and 8 oz flask at $24.95. A bundle of several items is also offered. We didn't see prices for the other artists' pieces.
How many artists, exactly?
The numbers differ slightly. The museum's statement says "more than a dozen" artists have work in the game, while the collection page and RockstarINTEL say 15. In our reading there's no contradiction: 15 is the closed list of participants, and the ten murals are a subset. But none of the sources says so outright.
What about Brazil?
None of the sources we read says whether Wynwood Walls ships the collection outside the United States, or what shipping would cost. The free entry, by definition, applies only to county residents. For readers in Brazil who want official merchandise, Rockstar's own store is another route, with a different line of pieces, which we covered in shirts, caps and a lighter at the Rockstar Store. Exchange rate aside, expect import duties if the store ships to you at all.
Miami, everywhere you look
The announcement lands in the middle of a marketing campaign that has already repainted the city: the "Welcome to Vice City" sign and the banners (see who approved what) and the Miami Heat collection. Also on October 14, VGTimes noted that Miami-Dade commissioners were again questioning the county's advertising deal with Rockstar. Next to that debate, a partnership with an art museum is the easiest part of the campaign to defend, and it's hard not to see the timing as deliberate. That is our opinion, not something Rockstar has said.
A warning about one source: VGTimes lists GTA 6 as also launching on PC. Rockstar only mentions PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for November 19, as on the game's official hub, and we used that. The release date hasn't changed.
What we still don't know
In the sources we read, these are missing: Rockstar's confirmation of the "Stockyard" area, prices for the rest of the collection, delivery dates for the pre-orders, and the exact rules of the free entry after the digital sign-up.
